‘I’m 21 And My Daughter’s 15 — Her Teachers Never Take Me Seriously’

While we have all seen young moms, and their struggles to live through life, this right here is quite a disaster of epic proportions. The life of an average human of 20 years would be all about drinking, partying, and enjoying life. But for this 21-year-old young mom, her days are spent caring for her child who is, take this, 15 years of age! Hunter Nelson would have liked to be the life of the party, but in reality, she has to be the lifeline for her daughter, who could very well be her sister. In an extremely controversial TikTok confessional, which racked up over 8.2 million views, the young woman stated, “Me driving down the road am realizing I’m 21 with a 15-year-old.

One of the problems that she faces is that her child’s teachers don’t take her seriously. And to be frank, every teacher would be a little hesitant- if they have to deal with a student whose mother is just 6 years older. “No other parents or staff members at her high school are gonna take me seriously. I can already feel people asking me what grade I’m in when I go to her events. How am I gonna teach her how to drive when I can barely get down the road?” The video she posted was captioned, “I love overthinking.

21-Year-old Young Mom Given Guardianship Of 15-Year-Old Half-Sister

Needless to say, her TikTok exploded with comments, with every single comment worrying about the implications of what this young mom said. One shaken user commented, “YOU WERE SIX WHEN YOU HAD A BABY?” Another user went on to state, “This video makes it sound like you had a child at the age of 6, is that what you wanted it to come across as?” A third viewer commented, “OMG. You had a kid at 6?”

In response to all the comments, Hunter had to unpack the details of her parenting predicament. She assured her audience, “I did not have a baby when I was 6. I recently filed for guardianship of my sister a few months ago… I felt the best way to keep my sister safe, happy, and to have all her needs and wants met was to come live with me.” Nelson further explained that their father had passed away back in 2015 and that her newly-legalized daughter Gracie, who was previously her half-sister from North Carolina, had also lost her mother soon. And upon realizing that Gracie could potentially be placed in foster care after her mom’s death, Nelson petitioned the courts for guardianship of the teen. In the video, she wrote, “It’s 100% legal.”

A Fierce Battle For Custody

However, the custodial matter didn’t end there for Hunter. She soon received a slew of death threats from the members of Gracie’s bloodline from the maternal side. By the way, they had no intention of letting this young mom get the parental rights. Incidentally, Gracie’s aunt even hired a lawyer in their attempt to thwart her plea for custody of Gracie. Nelson further admitted that Gracie herself protested this move. “Gracie did not want to come with me,” she confessed on camera. Nelson stated, “She threw a fit and I thought she was going to kill herself in the bathroom. She was very upset with me. But I felt like I was doing what was best for her even if it was very hard for both of us.

Later, Gracie understood why Nelson had done it and was quite grateful for her half-sister. Speaking on behalf of the young mom, Gracie stated, “Put the kid’s safety and pride and necessities over their emotions. Sometimes they’re not going to be happy about it. But you just gotta do it.
