During the 2000s, James McCartney contributed as a backup percussionist and guitarist for his father’s solo releases, such as “Flaming Pie” and “Driving Rain.” Additionally, he showcased his lead guitar skills on the track “The Light Comes from Within,” which appeared on the posthumously released album “Wide Prairie,” performed by his mother.
The loss of his mother in 1998 shattered James’s perception of a perfect world. Reflecting on that time, he shared, “When I was 17, I wrote my first song, and then my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away when I was 20, and that’s when I entered a very dark period.” Despite facing challenges, he spoke of his deep connection with his mother, saying, “I was studying art, photography, and English at college.
