Madonna poses topless and fans say she ‘doesn’t look like the same person’

Madonna has been a pop icon since the 1980s, and if you have a look at her Instagram lately, it doesn’t look like she’s aged since then, either. She recently shared some pictures that have the public and her followers a little, well, unsettled, to say the least.

Madonna’s Latest Instagram Posts Have People Confused

Recently, 63-year-old Madonna posted some headshots on Instagram. The pictures are showing off some chunky necklaces, which are the only items she’s actually wearing. Instead, to cover up her breasts, which would otherwise have been visible, she used her long blonde hair. Fans, however, are not quite so impressed as they instead are rather confused. In one of her captions, Madonna wrote “Breathwork…….. #gang-gang and yea Sasha is always reliable!”. (1)

Her Fans Are Confused

Her fans are confused because, for starters, her face and flawless, wrinkle-less skin completely belie her age. Second, many have pointed out that it doesn’t even really look like her. Rather, she looks shockingly similar to Kim Kardashian. Most have chalked the impossibly ageless shot up to filter use.

“She doesn’t even look like the same person.. way too much work done on her face.” wrote one person.

“Clearly some kind of “work” been done but not breath work lol.” wrote another.

“Omg now even Madonna looks like a Kardashian.” said a third.

Other commenters said that she was completely unrecognizable and were questioning what had happened to Madonna. One even claimed that she was “aging backward”. Naturally, most just commented that it is a combination of plastic surgery, filters, and makeup. (2)

The singer posted similar shots with the caption “Why do I have to explain everything” as well.

A Call For A More Natural Look?

This is not the first time Madonna has posted images on Instagram that have surprised people. After all, the 63-year-old looks shockingly young in the majority of the photos that she posts on her Instagram. Naturally, the Like a Virgin and Material Girl singer enjoys being a little risque and pushing boundaries on social media. This includes photos and videos of herself in various lingerie-like outfits or no clothing at all. (3)

Most of her followers don’t have any problem with the kinds of clothes she does or doesn’t wear. They also don’t have an issue with what poses she is in. After all, for many, it is empowering to see a woman, especially an older woman, owning her body and her sexuality. What they do have an issue with is Madonna using filters (and, as we know, plenty of cosmetic procedures) to try and look like she’s in her twenties instead of the beautiful 63year-old woman that she is.

“You are so naturally beautiful”,  said one commenter, to which another replied: “natural? her face is 99.99% plastic.”

“Can you show one photo without filters? It’s ok to age! And you can make it look graceful too….no need to pretend to be a teenager…not cool,” said another.

Some even went as far as to say that some of her pictures look quite “creepy” and that she looks younger than her own teenage daughter.

Madonna Doesn’t Care

One thing is for certain – women can’t really win in Hollywood. There is terrible pressure for famous women to still look perfect and beautiful as they age. If they don’t, they get criticized and may even miss out on roles or opportunities. Yet, when one does the things required to stay looking young, they’re criticized for that, too. They’re called out for having cosmetic procedures such as Botox, facelifts, or nose jobs. Touch up a photo or use a filter to smooth out your skin? Then you’re told you’re being “fake”. Madonna, for her part, has done a remarkably excellent job at ignoring people’s comments and just doing, frankly, whatever she wants.

So if you have a negative opinion about Madonna’s most recent Instagram posts, she likely doesn’t care. In fact, whether you think she looks great or you think she should be “allowing herself to age” more, she also likely doesn’t care. She will continue to be herself, look however she wants to look, and nothing any random person on the internet says is going to change that.
