Extraordinary Birth Photos Capture Dad Delivering His Baby on the ER Floor

The majority of couples who are expecting a baby create a birth plan that they expect they will more or less follow on the day of delivery. That’s what mom of six Jess Hogan and her husband Travis thought would happen, too. Their youngest son, however, had other plans. Jess gave birth on the waiting room floor. The birth photos by Little Leapling Photography are almost as incredible as the birth story itself.

The Amazing Birth Photos After Mom Gives Birth On Waiting Room Floor

Baby Maxwell, born in July 2018, has a birth story that his parents, the hospital nurses, and any other witnesses there that morning will ever forget. But, unfortunately, it’s also a story that many may have a hard time believing. Thankfully, Jess had a photographer on-site who took some truly astonishing birth photos.

Four days before Maxwell’s birth, Jess went to the hospital because she had begun the process of labor. However, when she didn’t dilate past four centimeters, the doctors sent her back home to wait.

“The pain wasn’t troubling me too badly, I kept telling myself I would just ‘know’ if this was the real thing,”

Four days later, Jess woke up during the night to a very different, very long contraction. She had an uncomplicated pregnancy thus far, so this was somewhat surprising. Suddenly, things started moving very quickly – they had to leave the house so fast that Jess didn’t even have time to put shoes on. She fired off a text to her birth photographer as her husband raced her to the hospital.

A Promise Kept

Jess wanted to have an intervention-free birth at the hospital. As they were loading into the car, her husband Travis promised her that no matter what, he would get her to the hospital. Not only did he keep his promise, but he went above and beyond. Jess could feel the baby already starting to crown as they were walking through the emergency room door.

“I then started to take my pants off because I could feel my body pushing the baby’s head out,” she explained. “I reached down and could feel his head crowning with my hand.”

A nurse had come running through the door to assist the couple. She and Travis held the baby’s head as they helped to guide her down to the floor.

“I looked at my husband and said, ‘Travis catch him!'” Jess recalled. “Without any hesitation, he did just that as I felt my body involuntarily pushing his head the rest of the way out.”

Travis stepped in and helped deliver their son right there on the emergency room entranceway floor. After the experience, he was extremely happy. He felt like he now had this special bond with his son and his wife. Though bruised from his rapid entrance into the world, the baby boy was healthy and doing well. They moved the family to the maternity ward as quickly as possible after the birth.

More In Love Than Ever Before

Jess was immediately enamored with her youngest child, but her son wasn’t the only person she fell even more in love with that day. The incredible actions of her husband made her love him even more than she already did.

“I was also totally in love with the little person laying on me, and even more completely in love with my husband who didn’t miss a beat and kept his word that we would, in fact, make it to the hospital,” she said. “I don’t have words for how thankful I am for him. He kept me calm, he kept us safe, he always takes excellent care of us, and he is the most beautiful father and husband,”
