This girl’s dad is an electrician in a zoo, look how he spent his morning working with meerkats

Having a job is one of the most essential things to have for surviving in this modern world. The irony is, that most of the population would rather be elsewhere than working their 9-5. One man seems to be the exception. He is an electrician, but the workplace is what makes his days on the grind worth it. He works in a zoo, and his colleagues are the animals in the zoo. He recently went viral when his daughter posted pictures of him on her Twitter account, having befriended a bunch of meerkats.

Lucy lives abroad and does not get to see her father very often. she looks forward to his virtual updates on what is going on in his life. Mostly because she misses her dad, but largely because she’s curious to see what animals will be in the pictures with him. Lucy’s dad, Colin, happens to be an electrician. Although, he’s not just any old electrician. He’s an employee at a zoo in the South of England. His daily work-life is filled with interesting creatures from all over the world.

“We always get selfies of him with the animals, the most recent being the fruit bats. We live in different countries, so we always get updates, and when we go to visit him, we go to the zoo so he can show off. There was a monkey there that he befriended who would follow him around the enclosure,” said Lucy.

While Colin fixes the rides that are available at the zoo or the electrical functions that keep the animal enclosures locked, the animals always come up to greet him. Lucy described how most of the animals at the zoo are tame and friendly around humans. So, Colin gets to work with them while they’re still in the enclosure. However, the camels are a different story. Colin once said to Lucy that they tend to spit, so he avoids working near them for obvious reasons.

Curious Meerkats

One day, Colin had a job to do in the Meetkat enclosure. He was busy getting the job done, but couldn’t help but notice how curious the meerkats were. They came right up to him and even crawled into his tool bag. “Meerkats are naturally super curious, so they just went up to explore while he was working! There’s another photo of one of them sitting on my dad’s shoulder. He bent down to pick something up and they climbed up his back! I didn’t post that one because I didn’t think my dad would be very impressed!” said Lucy.

Helping Him With His Tools

The meerkats proceeded to take out the tools in his bag and this picture makes it look like they were passing him the screwdriver. How helpful! Meerkats are a subspecies of mongoose. They are small, social mammals native to the deserts and grasslands of southern Africa. Meerkats are known for their slender bodies and their distinctive appearance with tan or gray fur and dark bands across their backs.

Curiouser and Curiouser

The meerkats didn’t stop with the tools. One of them took a spotlight from his bag which he would use for night-time repairs. It started examining it with all the curiosity in the world.

Meerkats Came Right Up and Crawled Onto Colin’s Leg

The meerkats became so comfortable with Colin’s presence that they came right up close to him. they were now starting to crawl up his leg and Colin managed to catch a few pictures of them making themselves at home.

Apparently, the meerkats are not the only curious animals in the zoo. Although, according to Lucy the meerkats are the first ones to actually hop into Colin’s tool kit and start tinkering around. Lucy says that there is a particular monkey that is quite fond of her dad. Whenever he has to work in the monkey enclosure, this one follows him around. “The other animals haven’t interacted with the tools and stuff, really, but they do like going over and watching him work, especially the monkeys. We always get photos of them looking over his shoulders or posing for selfies. There was a monkey there that he befriended who would follow him around the enclosure,” said Lucy.
