7 Of The Best Fast-Food Breakfast Sandwiches, Ranked

Typically, fast food is an easy meal option to help us keep up with our busy lives of overworking or over-committing. However, fast food has a reputation for being low quality or not as delicious and nutritious as other meal options. Fortunately, food experts from Taste of Home have tested several fast food establishments to rank the best breakfast sandwiches, making your morning a little more enjoyable.

7. Burger King is 7th for the Best Breakfast Sandwich.

First, you’ll have to decide what matters most to you to know the best sandwich. It’s important to note that the experts prioritized flavor, namely the flavor of the sausage, when ranking these morning offerings. For instance, while Burger King scored low in several areas, it scored high for convenience. Burger King delivers their meals promptly, meaning it’s a leader in morning efficiency. Therefore, Burger King may be a great choice if convenience is the top priority. However, Burger King’s breakfast sandwich is purportedly on the smaller side, so many may feel it’s not worth the cost. Moreover, the breakfast sausage lacked flavor, while the eggs “lacked texture.”

6. Dunkin’s Breakfast Sandwich

One highlight of Dunkin’s breakfast sandwich is the choices it offers. Apparently, you can order a croissant, bagel, or English muffin. However, they don’t “stand out” so, it’s recommended to stick with their coffee and doughnuts, popular nationwide.

5. McDonald’s Doesn’t Have the Best Breakfast Sandwich

Reportedly, McDonald’s has changed their recipes and food prep methods. While some changes have been for the better, one seemingly hasn’t. The recipe for the breakfast sausage has changed and is less flavorful than the old recipe. Alternatively, McDonald’s is one of the easier fast food restaurants to find, worldwide. Furthermore, they aim to provide quick service. Therefore, it scores high for convenience and, some would say, cost.

4. Wendy’s

Wendy’s is well-known for their fries, “fresh never frozen” patties, frosty, and chili. However, in 2020, the fast food giant also started selling breakfast, which has been lackluster compared to their other offerings, or breakfast sandwiches at other restaurants.

3. Panera’s Breakfast Sandwich

Panera’s breakfast sandwich was ranked highly, almost the best. However, the cost knocked it down a few points. It’s noted that the sandwich is “hearty” and “large” but was significantly more costly than the others on the list.  Some good points were the quality ingredients and freshness that shone through in the flavor profiles of the sandwich.

2. Chick-Fil-A

Arguably, the best part of Chick-fil-A’s breakfast offerings is the bun. The breakfast sandwich features a biscuit, with a “homemade texture and flavor.” Meanwhile, the eggs were fluffy, and the cheese was seemingly high quality. However, the sausage was lackluster but they do offer a chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich, that’s likely to be better as chicken is the chain’s claim to fame.

1. The Best Breakfast Sandwich

Surprisingly, the best breakfast sandwich can be found at Starbucks. The company’s reputation is based on coffee, so most people don’t expect the food to be incredible. On the other hand, due to Starbucks producing the most flavorful sausage patties among the contenders, it stands out from the rest.

Time Likely Means Higher Quality

While fast food is convenient and can save time, purportedly, fast food is highly processed and may contain additives and preservatives. As a result, you’re better off making a breakfast sandwich at home if you have the time and ingredients, if that doesn’t sit well with you.

Enhancements for Flavorful Meals

Here are some at-home options you can add to your routine to make the best breakfast sandwich, from the comfort of your kitchen.

Try adding:

  • Flavored cream cheese
  • Chopped and Sautée onions or peppers
  • Scallions or garlic
  • Different types of breakfast meats or veggies.
  • Greens.
  • Avocado

Methods to Try at Home

Moreover, creating a delicious breakfast sandwich at home is easy, and fun. At home, you can experiment with numerous elements. Here are some examples:

  • Change up the type of bread.
  • Change up the cheese.
  • Cook the eggs differently.
  • Try lightly toasting the bread.
  • Be sure the sandwich is warm and the cheese is melted.

The best breakfast sandwich when you’re on the go will likely come from a fast food place, but picking an ideal option will depend on how you prioritize things, such as flavor profiles or size for the cost. Food experts have broken their choices down to offer some perspective and help make your morning routine run more smoothly.
