Viewers Spot Sex Toy In Back Of Woman’s Interview On BBC News

These days, if you’re on a job hunt, having an interview via Zoom is the new norm, thanks to the current pandemic. Meetings on Zoom are pretty standard now, too, for those who still have jobs and are working remotely. It’s a pretty useful tool! Of course, just because a meeting is virtual doesn’t mean something can’t go wrong; if anything, it opens the door for more technology mishaps and even some embarrassing mistakes. And that’s exactly what happened to one woman who had a live interview with BBC Wales after viewers spotted what seems to be a sex toy on the bookshelf behind her!

Viewers Got More Than They Bargained For

Yvette Amos appeared on BBC Wales Today and gave those tuning into the show a little more than they bargained for, and now she’s gone viral for the apparent sex toy that was spotted behind her.

Yvette appeared on the regional BBC show to talk about the unemployment crisis ravaging many people thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. During her interview, she spoke about how it’s affected her as a part-time bar worker and researcher at university.[1]

How Did The Sex Toy Get There?

Of course, the internet’s biggest question is asking how and why there was a giant penis on Yvette’s shelf. Unfortunately, Yvette refused to comment, so we are only left with speculation.

It would seem that people going live on air have actually started strategically placing things within the viewer’s eye line, especially now that we are all confined to our homes; it’s a bit of a trend. Although, usually, it’s a book or some other item they are trying to promote.[2]

We don’t think Yvette was trying to flog a sex toy, however. Some viewers say they think it’s a novelty candle, while others have speculated it was probably a prank played on her by a friend. If you look closely, you can see even more strange things in the background. Including the x-rated drawing game Scrawl and the door just beyond has bloody handprints.

Perhaps Yvette just has a mischievous streak, or maybe she genuinely just forgot it there!

Here’s the Video, Incase You Missed It:

Sex Toys Are NORMAL

I think the coolest speculation is that Yvette was trying to normalize sex toys and the stigma around them. And now, she’s been hailed online as a bit of a hero! If that’s the case and it wasn’t just for a laugh, we think Yvette is pretty darn awesome!

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Yvettes mom had something to say, too.

She said:

I did watch the interview, and my son pointed out what was behind her. I did see it but don’t know what it was and have not asked her. She is a grown woman.

‘My daughter is a very clever woman. I am not embarrassed at all. Why should I be?

‘I have got no idea what it is and will not ask her. If she wants to tell me, then she can.’

She added: ‘I don’t think it will bother Yvette what people are saying.”

On the other hand, her dad reckons it was all just a silly prank, saying he too isn’t at all embarrassed by what happened with the sex toy. Go, dad![3]

The Internet Did Not Disappoint

Taking to Twitter and the likes, here are some of the comments left by those who spotted the sexy toy on the shelf;

It goes without saying, check your shelves before jumping on a video call or interview. Especially if it’s on live TV! Oh and, don’t leave your sex toys lying around!
