Ricky Schroder: Recent Appearance from Former Child Start Has People Concerned

Ricky Schroder was born on April 13, 1970, as Richard Bartlett Schroder Jr. in New York City. He is one of the Hollywood elite, and he’s been famous for performing in over 50 movies and television series throughout his career. No stranger to scandal, he’s been in the limelight but less so in recent years. However, he’s recently been trending due to his current health status which has fans feeling concerned.

Ricky Schroder’s Humble Beginnings

He had a humble childhood, with both parents working for AT&T. Although his father eventually worked his way in the company, his mother quit working after his older sister and he were born. Interestingly, his parents had known each other for almost all their lives, attending junior high together.

Breaking through to Stardom

Ricky Schroder was seemingly destined to be in the spotlight, and his first photo shoot was taken when he was three months old. At nine years old, he starred in his first film, The Champs, earning a Golden Globe. From then on, his fame and stardom soared. Again, in 1982, he appeared on screen. This time in a series entitled Silver Spoons, which lasted until 1987. He’s most notably recognized today for his NYPD Blue, Scrubs, and Strong Medicine roles. However, he starred in a number of other films before taking on bigger projects.

Success Overshadowed by Controversy

He began directing and producing and, in 2004, won the Best Director Award for the film Black Cloud. Despite his popularity in the public eye, his personal relationships told another story. In 1992, he was arrested for domestic violence, being charged with assault and battery. He later married his girlfriend at the time, Andrea Bernard. The couple had four children together but ultimately separated in 2016.

Schroder reportedly struggled after his marriage ended. The former childhood star has made headlines for having a public mental breakdown, excessive partying after the separation, and again in 2019 for facing more domestic violence charges. However, the case was eventually dismissed.

Ricky Schroder Has Controversial Ideas

He’s seemingly never been shy to share his perspective. As an avid Republican, he urges people to vote and be active in the country, but he has some controversial views, including making headlines for protesting COVID-19 vaccine mandates, having wild ideas about “Pride Month,” and stressing the importance of doomsday preparedness.

“Half the country agrees with him and half the country disagrees, unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on the perspective. Does it make it right? Does it make wrong?” Said a former co-star regarding his take on Ricky Schroder’s controversial perspectives. “It’s an opinion, and we’re all entitled to have our opinions, right or wrong, good or bad. It’s just an opinion, and you don’t have to listen to it if you don’t want to. So it is what it is, right?”

With the exception of sharing his “Pro-Trump” ideals and other political views and concerns for society, he’s remained out of the spotlight in recent years and has been spending the majority of his time on his farm. However, he does use Social Media platforms to keep his fans updated on his latest ideas, projects, or general updates on himself.

Recently, he posted a video that sparked a lot of discussion. While many people praised him for his opinions on “the good old days of his youth” and his concern that people are “turn[ing] a blind eye to corruption in the federal system”. Alternatively, some fans were more focused on his appearance, concerned that he was looking unwell. One comment asked, “What the hell happened to Ricky Schroder?” Meanwhile another fan asked, “Ricky why are you looking so rough?” Following that up with, “God Bless You.”

Others came to his rescue saying things like, “Child actor. Enough Said. He’s allowed to look rough after all he’s been through.” “He’s living. Hopefully, thriving.” And, “He looks great! Rough looks good on him!” Meanwhile, another fan admiringly shared, “He’s a farmer/rancher. Hard work is rough on the body. Much respect for Rick, living an honest life.”
