4. “I don’t need you”
You may say this to show independence, but it can sound like rejection. Men want to feel needed, even in small ways. This doesn’t mean you have to rely on him for everything, but emotional connection matters. Saying you don’t need him at all can make him feel useless or disconnected. It can also send the message that you’re not invested in the relationship. Independence is great, but connection is better. Letting your partner know you appreciate him doesn’t make you weak.
