Stacy and Babajide, a couple hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, shared a common desire like many other parents: they longed for their cherished daughter to have a sibling. However, their anticipation quickly turned into surprise during an ultrasound appointment they attended together.
What awaited them was a colossal surprise they hadn’t anticipated. The moment Stacy discovered she was pregnant with twins, she was overcome with a mixture of emotions. Little did the 31-year-old Nigerian woman know what awaited her as she began the process of giving birth.
Stacy was booked in for an elective C-section
As Stacy arrived at the hospital for her scheduled cesarean section, excitement filled her heart. The expectant mother eagerly anticipated the arrival of her baby boys, Daniel and David Omirin. However, once she laid eyes on them, along with her husband, an overwhelming sense of astonishment engulfed them.
On February 26th, 2019, these extraordinary twins made their entrance into the world, mere minutes apart. Yet, to Stacy and Babajide’s surprise, Daniel and David bore little resemblance to each other, save for their beautiful, deep brown eyes.

Daniel, a true reflection of his older sister Demilade, had a beautiful dark complexion and curly black hair. Meanwhile, David, with his golden curls and fair skin, had a completely different appearance. The stark contrast in the boys’ appearances came as an immense surprise to Stacy and her husband, considering their own African heritage.
“We had no idea about their differences during my pregnancy; the ultrasound didn’t reveal anything. It was an incredibly surprising and awe-inspiring moment when the first twin, Daniel, emerged with his beautiful black hair, followed by the second twin, David, with his stunning golden locks,” Stacy shared.
She continued, “Since I had a cesarean section, the doctors remarked, ‘It appears you have completely non-identical twins.’ Before I knew it, nurses were coming out to catch a glimpse of them.” The unexpected and remarkable contrast between Daniel and David’s appearances sparked intrigue among the medical staff, creating a sense of wonder and fascination.

The black and white twins had people talking. How could this happen?
The twins’ striking dissimilarity often left people puzzled and bewildered. Stacy revealed that many individuals find it challenging to believe that she is the mother of both children or that Babajide could be the father. Upon the babies’ arrival, Stacy’s joy overshadowed any concerns about their appearances. She vividly remembers the nurse’s words when Daniel was born.
“When Daniel came first, the nurse mentioned that the second baby had golden hair. I couldn’t comprehend how that could be possible. I glanced down and saw David, who was completely white,” Stacy shared. However, she had some apprehension about how her husband would react to the unexpected difference. Fortunately, his response was that of most fathers.
“Their dad was genuinely overwhelmed and immediately named ‘My Twin 2’ (David) ‘Golden.’ He affectionately refers to him as Mr. Golden. He was overjoyed upon seeing his boys. He stood there for more than 10 minutes, gazing at them. Expressing that he was admiring God’s marvelous creation and that they were his greatest gift ever,” Stacy recounted.
It’s important to note that despite the black and white twins’ contrasting appearances, the twins do share the same biological parents. David, however, was born with a rare genetic condition called oculocutaneous albinism, which causes a lack of pigmentation in the skin, eyes, and/or hair, resulting in a distinct appearance among individuals with albinism.
People are perplexed by the beautiful black and white twins
Due to the striking contrast between the twins’ appearances, they often become the center of attention when the family goes out in public. In response to this, Stacy and her husband decided to create an Instagram page to raise awareness about their unique family dynamic. They believed that the twins had a story to share with the world.
When out and about, Stacy frequently encounters questions from curious individuals. She shared, “I am constantly asked, ‘Excuse me, madam, which one of the kids is yours?'” To which she confidently responds, “Both of them are mine,” often receiving incredulous looks from people who assume she must be joking.
Some women have even expressed their desire to have twins like Daniel and David, sharing that they pray for such a blessing. Stacy remarked, “They are special to everyone, and I love them. Being their mother feels extraordinary because they are a unique kind of twins.” Stacy firmly believes that she is blessed and takes immense pride in her children. Their presence in her life fills her with a sense of joy and gratitude.
