Suicide is not something anyone will ever become accustomed to, nor will it be easily understood. Michael Madsen had his world turned upside down last year when his son, Hudson Madsen, took his own life. Madsen has been grieving ever since but is still adamant to find answers to Hudsen’s reasons.
Michael Madsen Did Not See the Signs
In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Michael Madsen’s son, Hudson, had been to visit just a few days before he took his own life, and he received a text message from him shortly before the incident occurred. “I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy — my last text from him was ‘I love you Dad.'”
Madsen went on to claim he had not seen the signs of his son’s depression. He is not alone, as many parents who have lost children to the same methods were unaware of their children’s mental state. “I didn’t see any signs of depression,” said Michael. “It’s so tragic and sad. I’m just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened. He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family. He was looking towards his future, so it’s mind-blowing. I just can’t grasp what happened.”
Micael Madsen also opened up to the fact that his son had been seeking therapy for his time in Afghanistan as a soldier. He reportedly stopped with that after a while. Michael said his son feared “that officers and rank and file were shaming.”

Did of Gunshot Wound to the Head
As a means to help Madsen, his family did the announcing of Hudson’s death. They made a report to Metro, saying: “We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson. His memory and light will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.”
Later on, it became apparent that Hudson had died of a gunshot wound to the head. According to his birth certificate, it was self-inflicted. Which meant he had committed suicide.
Tribute from his Wife, Carlie
Hudson Madsen was deeply loved. Not only by his father, Michael Madsen, but also by his loving wife, Carlie Madsen. She shared some words in tribute of her lost husband, whom she fondly called “Lump.” She took to social media to share a post one year after he took his life. To Carlie, it still felt unreal to have lost him to suicide. “…I don’t even know how it’s been a year without you. It still hurts just as much as it did that day. You’re the first thing I think about every day when I wake up and the last thing I think about before I fall asleep at night. I can’t even describe how much I’m hurting and how much I miss you.”
She continued, “I just wish you would have talked to me and told me what was going on that day. I’m so sorry you thought this was the only way to make things better, I’m so sorry I couldn’t do more and I didn’t see the signs. I’m sorry I let you down. Just know you’re always with me and always on my mind. I miss you so much and I love you more Lump.”
