Many A-listers in Hollywood, which includes the likes of John Travolta, Tom Hanks, Dolly Parton, and others, have been mourning the death of Lisa Marie Presley. The only child of Elvis Presley died on Thursday at the age of 54 after she was hospitalized on Thursday. The wife of Elvis and Lisa’s mother, Priscilla Presley, shared the news with the people on social media.
Her statement to the Associated Press on Thursday night read, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known.”
Sam Mast, the publicist for Priscilla Presley, also stated that the entire family was “shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.” The unexpected demise of the celebrity-led to an outpouring of condolences and grief from Hollywood celebrities who remembered the singer and songwriter. Austin Butler stated, “My heart is completely shattered for Riley, Finley, Harper, and Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie. I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, her love, and her authenticity will always be remembered.”

Interestingly, Butler portrayed Lisa Marie’s father, Elvis Presley in the film Elvis- for which he won a Golden Globe award on Tuesday for Best Actor. In his speech, he thanked both Priscilla and Lisa Marie. “Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”
Hollywood star John Travolta also put up an Instagram post where he expressed his grief at the demise of Elvis’s daughter. “Lisa baby girl, I’m so sorry. I’ll miss you, but I’ll see you again. My love and heart go out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper, and Finley.” Other celebrities like Rita Wilson, mentioned, “Our hearts are broken with the sudden and shocking passing of Lisa Marie Presley tonight. Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour. Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, and in a state of anticipation about the movie.” Rita further added, “She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad. Our hearts and prayers go out to Riley, Harper, Finley, Danny, and Priscilla. A mother should never have to lose a child.” [1]
Author Claims Elvis And His Daughter Suffered The Same Fate Due To Faulty Genes And Not Bad Lifestyle Choices
With the outpouring of grief from Hollywood stars like John Travolta, several medical practitioners, as well as biographers have tried to understand the cause behind Lisa Marie’s sudden death. A biographer also went on to claim that there was a major correlation between Lisa Marie’s demise and her father’s sudden demise- and it could be the result of defective genes in Elvis’ family tree. Elvis himself died from cardiac arrest at the age of 42- back in 1977. What makes it even eerier is that Elvis’ mother, Gladys, also died due to a cardiac arrest when she was 46- in 1958.
In Elvis: Destined to Die Young, Sally Hoedel went on to argue that the death of the King was not a result of extremely bad lifestyle choices. Rather, the author believes that the death of Elvis was a result of bad genes. Maternal grandparents, Doll Mansell and Bob Smith- who were first cousins. The author wrote, “Those faulty genes were aggravating factors behind his and Gladys’ various health issues, which Elvis in turn treated with a cocktail of prescription drugs.” She further mentioned, “The premature deaths in the Presley family stopped being a coincidence with Elvis’ passing.”
Lisa Marie Presley’s Death Has Left Everyone Heartbroken
On the eve of Lisa Marie’s passing, Hoedel stated, “Lisa Marie has now prematurely left her children, just as Elvis left her in 1977 when she was just nine years old. It’s also just as Gladys left him prior to that. There is an undeniable pattern of young death in the family with heart, liver, and lung issues prevalent in the family tree. It’s so obviously too soon to speculate about Lisa Marie, but reports so far do point to a heart-related event. I would hate to see her treated unfairly in death, as her father has been. It took decades to uncover just how ill Elvis was so that we could move past the narrative of him taking too many pills and dying in the bathroom. He deserved more than that and so does she.” [2]
The author claims that Elvis Presley wasn’t the rock and roll star who lived every day like it was his last. On the other hand, Elvis Presley was someone who struggled to survive every single day. And she thinks his daughter suffered the same fate before her death. “It’s impossible to hear about Lisa Marie’s tragically young death at age fifty-four and not leap to the possibility of correlation. His family tree, after all, is half of hers. It’s also important to be respectful at this time until we find out more. However, the only thing more tragic than her young death would be the failure to recognize that like her father, her story is not one of self-destruction.”
