Dad, Carlos Morales, Raises Quadruplets After Wife Dies During Childbirth

Do you remember Carlos Morales, the father of quadruplets whose wife, Erica, died during childbirth? Well, he’s doing an amazing job as a dad! It’s not Father’s Day but let’s take a look at the incredible job he has done to raise four beautiful children over the years…

In March 2015, Carlos was finally able to bring his four new babies home two months after they were born premature. Unfortunately, just hours after doctors delivered Carlos and Erica’s children, she died due to blood loss.

Raising quadruplets alone

As a single father, raising four children has been one of the biggest life challenges. Looking back on the last few years, however, really shines a light on the love and support of humanity. From receiving numerous surprise gifts from Steve Harvey to $10,000 for each child to start a college savings account from Sallie Mae, family, friends and strangers alike have banded together for the Morales family.

“I went from having the best day of my life to the next morning experiencing the worst day of my life,” Carlos said. “My four babies came into the world and then my wife died.”

How could this have happened?” he asked. “She was fine, and then she wasn’t. She was alive and then she was just gone.” These are questions Carlos still asks himself to this day.

Carlos Jr., Tracey, Paisley, and Erica (named after his late wife) each weighed 2-3 pounds when they were born. All the baby-care classes he took have definitely paid off, from bathing to CPR and feeding to managing all their sleep schedules.

Now, the four Morales children are halfway to four-years-old and Carlos has returned to work. Although it has been good for him, doing so has proven to be harder than he expected…

That’s when Erica used to text me and ask how my day was going,” he says. “It’s on my way home that I realize she won’t be there when I walk in the door.”

However, Carlos says that sadness washes away the moment he remembers and thinks of the children he’s blessed to go home to. He “just [wishes] Erica was here to see them crawl and see them start to walk. There are going to be so many more firsts she won’t be around for.”

After Erica’s death in January 2015, Carlos and Erica’s friend, Nicole Todman, created a GoFundMe page in March to help support the Morales family. To date, over 13,300 people have donated.

“Everything I do now is for my children. Our family and friends have been very supportive too.”

All the support and funds raised are a testament to that.

“They have such potential and it’s my job to give them a great life,” says Morales. “But I couldn’t do it without my family and friends.”

So, whether it’s through financial donations or thoughts and prayers, let’s continue to help families like the Morales family!
