Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden welcome second baby at 51 and 45

Cameron Diaz is a Hollywood icon who captured hearts everywhere when she debuted on the big screen in The Mask in 1994. Although she’s been in more than 40 films or shows, she took a break from acting in 2014. She and her husband, Benji Madden, announced their marriage in January 2015 and welcomed their daughter in 2019. Now, four years later, they’ve made an exciting announcement, welcoming their second child, a son named Cardinal.

Cameron Diaz Starts a Family

Cameron Diaz married her husband, Benji Madden, in 2015. The coupling shocked many as the pair “had never been in the same circle.” According to Cameron. The pair formally met at a dinner party she hosted with Benji’s brother Joel and Nicole Richie. “Then I saw him again. Wait a second, still hot!” She said of her husband. The couple doesn’t share images of their daughter as they have a “strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.” However, that didn’t prevent the proud parents from announcing the birth of their second child.

A Baby Announcement

“We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden. He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here!” Benji announced to fans. “For the kids’ safety and privacy, we won’t be posting any pictures– but he’s really cute. We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours. Best wishes and Good Afternoon!!”

A Source with Well-Wishes

Although the pair has been discreet with their new baby, a source close to the family explained they are elated. “They were always hoping for a second baby, because they love being parents. For years, Cameron wanted to be a mom,” they said. “She gets very emotional when she talks about the long journey to motherhood. She feels beyond lucky to now have two children.”

Cameron Diaz is Elated by Motherhood

Cameron Diaz has mostly retired from acting as she’s shifted her focus to being a wife, mother, and co-founder of Avaline. Avaline is an organic wine producer “free from unwanted additives.” Despite her success, seemingly her greatest joy comes from her family. “I’m so grateful and so happy, and it’s the best thing ever.” She shared in a 2020 Instagram Live. “I’m so lucky to do it with Benj and we’re having the best time. I’m thrilled.”

Again in 2022, she expressed joy in her decision to step back from acting and raise her family. “The whole concept of aging has just changed completely, even in the last 10 years. It’s totally opened up. I’m excited. I’ve got 50 or 60 years to go — I want to live to be 110 since I’ve got a young child.” Cameron said.

A Loving Husband

Meanwhile, Benji gushes over the mother of his children. “So grateful to have our family and I am one lucky man,” he wrote on Instagram. “I know that seems obvious but it really is nice to say it out loud now and then when you’re feeling it. I love you forever.”

Before testing her acting skills, the bombshell started modeling at 16, appearing in ads for Coca-Cola, Levi’s, and Calvin Klein. She became an international sensation, gaining fame in Japan, Australia, Morocco, and Paris. After co-starring alongside Jim Carrey in the hilarious hit film, she performed in hits like Charlie’s Angels, co-starring alongside the beautiful and talented Drew Barrymore, Demi Moore, and Lucy Liu, and My Best Friend’s Wedding alongside Julia Roberts and  Dermot Mulroney.
