Take a Look at Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s Sustainable “Old Barn” Home

It’s not unusual for celebrities to invest more money and time than most of us have into designing their perfect home. Often creating an oasis in which they can hide from the spotlight. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are no exception. However, their style is a little more “simplistic” than most.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher captured the hearts of millions by starring alongside one another in the hit show “That 70’s Show”. Although both have gone on to star in other movies and shows, the pair have maintained a deep connection. So much so that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher tied the knot in 2015 and have been living in wedded bliss ever since.

Before the wedding and expecting their first child, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher bought a 6-acre property. Therefore, the pair desired a family-friendly home, ensuring that it reflected their “simplistic” style. “We wanted the house to look like an old barn. Something that had been here for decades, that was then converted into a house. But it also had to feel modern and relevant.” Ashton Kutcher added.

They then spent 5 years creating their dream home, one that resembles an old barn. The home is hillside and boasts incredible views of the city of Los Angeles. They shared an inside look with Architectural Digest in 2021, showing the incredible craftsmanship of their home.

Incredibly, the pair had very similar ideas for how their dream home should look. Moreover, they found a pattern in many of the homes they were looking to for inspiration. Many of the homes had been designed by an architect by the name of Howard Backen. Despite being nearly 80, his designs caught the attention of both Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, and they recruited his help on the project. “We wanted a home, not an estate,” Mila Kunis disclosed.

Getting Settled

After years of planning, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher settled into their new home with their 2 children Wyatt, born in 2014, and Dimitri born in 2016. They have since spent hours making the property exactly as they’ve always dreamed. The gorgeous property includes a well for irrigation and a corn field they planted during quarantine. The property also has a guest house that connects to the main house, doubling as an “entertainment barn“, and a “freestanding BBQ pavilion”. Perhaps the most notable feature is the wood features that can be found in every room, adding a rustic touch to the beautifully designed home.

Interestingly, their “old barn” has faced some criticism from the general public, accusing them of trying too hard to be relatable. The criticism came following a video that Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher posted in which the backdrop was their “farmhouse“. They released the video apologizing to fans regarding a delicate matter with a former co-star who recently faced some legal issues pertaining to the well-being of women.

On the other hand, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have been incredibly involved with an organization that he co-founded with Demi Moore in 2009, saving nearly 6,000 kids from human trafficking but ultimately stepped down from his position following the outpouring of criticism. “After my wife and I spent several days of listening, personal reflection, learning, and conversations with survivors and the employees and leadership at Thorn, I have determined the responsible thing for me to do is resign…. I cannot allow my error in judgment to distract from our efforts and the children we serve.” He wrote in a letter that was shared by the organization during a press release.

Regardless of their personal ties, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher both came from humble beginnings and worked hard to get where they are today, seemingly doing some incredible things with their fame and fortune.

Mila Kunis Comes to America

Mila Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, a Ukrainian city, on August 14, 1983. When her family came to the U.S., she was only seven years old, and the family had a mere $250. She described moving here as the feeling of “being blind and deaf at age 7.” However, she disclosed that she adjusted “pretty fast.” Her parents worked incredibly hard to create a better life for Mila and her older brother, Michael. She landed her breakthrough role at just 14 years old and has made incredible strides toward a life in which she wants for nothing.

Ashton Kutcher’s Humbling Experiences

Ashton Kutcher also had humble beginnings, born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Named Christopher Ashton Kutcher, he was born just minutes before his fraternal twin brother Michael, who has since had several health concerns. Their parents, Larry and Diane, were factory workers who ultimately divorced when the twins were 13. Sadly, Michael also required an emergency heart transplant around the same time. No stranger to struggle, Ashton Kutcher put himself through school doing various odd jobs, such as sweeping up cereal dust in a factory. A year after enrolling, a talent agent approached him and introduced him to modeling. However, his hopes were set on acting, and in 1998, he landed his breakthrough role, co-starring alongside his future wife.

From brothers with the same name to both getting their big break on the same show due to their similar style, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a relationship seemingly written in the stars, and the pair are thriving in their stunning Los Angeles home. More importantly, they savor their time with one another and their two precious children.
