Destiny, some of us believe in it and some don’t. If you are a believer in everything happening because that is how it’s meant to be, this story will just reinforce that belief. And, if you prefer to think things happen by chance, well maybe this tale, will change your mind.
Henry was home early from work and decided to surprise his wife with a lovely dinner at their favorite restaurant. As he pulled up into the driveway, he saw that there was an unfamiliar car parked in his spot already. He wondered who could be visiting Lisa, his wife. Henry walked up to the door and turned the knob, very curious to see who it was. But, as he opened the door and walked through the lounge and kitchen, he saw nobody.
The Affair
Henry was confused. He walked upstairs and heard his wife giggle. Could his suspicions have been right? Was Lisa cheating on him with another man? He got to the landing and heard her again. And then, he heard the voice of another man. Henry was livid as he approached the bedroom. He opened the door and sadly, he was correct. There stood Lisa, his wife of just three years, half-naked with another mans arms around her. Henry was angry, very angry. He did not give Lisa a chance to speak and told her to pack her things and leave before he got back.
Henry then rushed downstairs in a rage and got back into his car. He drove for miles and miles, filling his car up twice. Eventually, he parked outside of a woodland park area. The morning sun was coming up and he realized he had no idea where he was. Henry decided to get out of his car, he’d been sitting for so long. He walked up a path which lead to a large pond.
The Little Girl
Henry stood and stared over the water. Morning joggers were starting to appear and the ducks on the pond were waking up. He was absolutely broken. Before he had more time to think about Lisa and her affair, he heard a voice behind him. It was a little girl and she was crying. Henry turned around and asked her what was wrong and where her parents were. He was also very surprised because she looked so much like him, so much so that he thought he was seeing something that was not there. The little girl sobbed loudly that her mom needed help. Henry paused, wondering if this could be some sort of scam to get him out of sight to rob him. He figured he did not have much left to lose and asked the girl to show him where her mom was.
The little girl lead him into the woods down a path, and soon he noticed a woman lying on the ground. Henry ran up to her in haste when he realized that it was not a scam. He brushed the woman’s hair off of her face and gasped. It was his ex-girlfriend and first love, Belinda.

The Hospital
Henry could not believe that the woman and mother to the little girl was Belinda. He quickly pulled out his phone and called 911 to send an ambulance. He asked the little girl where they were, because he still had no idea, and managed to get an answer. The ambulance arrived quickly and Henry told them that he would look after the little girl. Luckily, she knew her address and they could wait at her house.
A few hours passed, and the hospital called Henry on his phone. He and the little girl, whose name was Lily, rushed to the hospital. It turned out that Belinda was anemic and had fainted, and was going to be just fine.
The Reunion
Henry made his way down to the room where Belinda was. He was nervous for her to see him. Especially because of how messy their breakup had been. He opened the door and Belinda looked up at him, shocked. little Lily ran up to her mom and hugged her, but her mother was still staring at Henry. She asked why he was there and he explained the situation and what had happened. Henry offered to drive them home and Belinda agreed. Belinda needed to take some time off work and rest, so Henry suggested that he stay with them for a few days to help with Lily. It took some convincing but eventually, Belinda gave in and agreed that he could stay and help. He cooked breakfast and took Lily to school, which really helped Belinda as she rested and gained strength.
As the last day arrived, Henry just could not shake how similar Lily looked to him. He wondered if it could be, she was nearly three years old, so the timing was right. He decided to ask Belinda who her father was that evening.
The Truth
Henry had emailed work and taken time off, he had turned his phone off to avoid Lisa calling him. So, all he had was his thoughts. He had grown quite close to little Lily, and really wanted to know if she could possibly be his daughter. That evening, they ate dinner and put Lily to bed. Belinda was finally strong enough to go back to work. Henry asked Belinda to sit with him. He then asked her where Lily’s dad was. Belinda looked at him and could not speak, she stuttered a few times. Eventually, he asked her if he was Lily’s father. She nodded.
He was upset, why had she not told him? He was a dad and had no idea! But, as if Belinda knew what he was thinking, she launched into telling him why. It turns out the Lisa, who used to be Henry’s wife, had actually told Belinda that she’d seen Henry with another woman. She caused Belinda to leave him without ever asking him if he’d actually been unfaithful. Two months after their breakup, she found out she was pregnant, but Lisa had already snapped him up by then. She decided to leave rather than tell him about Lily. Henry was even more furious with Lisa now, and he told Belinda about the troubles he was having, as well about Lisa cheating on him.
True Love
Henry and Belinda ended up rekindling their love that evening. The next morning, Henry immediately contacted his offices to request a transfer to the Texas branch of their company. He also contacted a lawyer to start the divorce proceedings. He was not going to waste anymore time, he wanted to be with Belinda and always did, and he did not want to miss anymore time of his daughter growing up.
Belinda and Henry were extremely happy together, and even more so when Henry’s divorce was finally over. They lived together happy, finally where they were meant to be all along. Henry knew it had all been because that is what was destined for them from the start.
