It’s not uncommon for cars to occasionally leak oil on the driveway and in the garage. Moreover, oil is seemingly impossible to remove. Fortunately, this household hack makes it easier. For this one you’ll need powder laundry detergent. Sprinkle the stains and add water to make a paste. Then scrub the stains with a stiff bristle brush and wash the stains away with water.

Grout stains are seemingly impossible to remove. However, you can add laundry detergent to a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide solution to make a powerful stain-removing paste. After it’s mixed, apply the paste and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing it with a toothbrush and washing it away. Additionally, let the mixture sit for longer if the stains are tougher or more ground in.

Household Hacks #9

Although this household hack is helpful, you should note that depending on the age and materials of your pipes this method may not be a good idea and could cause damage. However, a quarter cup of laundry detergent followed by boiling water can help clear a clogged drain, breaking down grease and grime, without using harsh chemicals.

Lastly, a Stain Removal Alternative

A small amount of laundry detergent mixed with water works well to remove stains from clothing, carpets (as previously mentioned), and furniture upholstery. Be sure to test a small patch of fabric first. If there isn’t an issue, use the mixture the same way you would use a stain remover. Apply and let it sit for a while before scrubbing it away and rinsing with water, or throwing the articles in the washing machine.
