What if I told you there’s a smart bed that will help you and your partner get better sleep?
Undoubtedly, having a partner is a wonderful thing. You have someone to share all the moments of your life with, including falling asleep. Although going to bed with your partner can be magical, it also can also affect your sleep.
For example, do you have a partner who snores, steals blankets, or worse, takes up the entire bed? In other words, you have a partner that forces very edge where you to stay up all night wondering if tonight is the night you fall to the floor.
Itâs safe to say that most couples have at least one person that has annoying sleep habits that ruin their partner’s sleep. Of course, because we love our partners we stay in that bed, wide awake. But what if I told you there might be a way in the future where we donât have to pick between a good night sleep and sleeping beside our partner?
Ford announced a concept smart bed.
It would seem that Ford is using its car know-how to help us sleep better. The mattress concept, which debuted in 2019, functions as a conveyor belt to shift âbed hoggersâ to their rightful side [1].
âFor those who share their bed with a âspace invaderâ, precious hours can be lost simply trying to reclaim a fair share of the mattress. One solution could be Fordâs âLane-Keeping Bedâ, which applies car tech know-how to ensure that even the most selfish bed mate stays âin laneâ through the night,â says Ford Europe [2].
The company uses the same technology they use while creating their cars, which prevents a car from drifting into another lane.
To clarify, there are âpressure sensorsâ throughout the bed that sends signals to the smart bed if your partner (or you) have rolled onto the other side of the bed [1].
âFordâs Lane-Keeping Aid actively supports the driver to safely guide the vehicle back into the correct lane by ânudgingâ the steering wheel in the correct direction. Just a prototype, the âLane-Keeping Bedâ is part of a series of Ford Interventions, applying automotive expertise to tackle everyday problems,â the company shared [2].

While the above mattress seems like an impressive technological marvel, it’s just a concept. Alas, it’s not hitting the show room floor any time soon, if ever.
Saatva Solaire Mattress
Seeing that so many couples have struggled when falling asleep, I canât help wondering if it has to do with different preferences [2].
I want everyone to feel comfortable when going to bed and thatâs why the Saatva Solaire Mattress is awesome. Itâs made for couples who have different nighttime preferences.
What you get with this bed [3]:
- A choice from 50 firmness settings
- An ability to raise and lower it to accommodate different sleeping positions
- Dual air chambers, where each person can adjust their own firmness
Nectar Memory Foam Mattress
Firstly, let me ask you a question: does your partner move in their sleep a lot? Maybe itâs time to consider buying the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress [4].
This memory foam mattress lives up to its demobilizing nature. The memory foam limits mattress movement because there are no spring coils in the bed [2]. If your partner’s a restless sleeper, this smart bed will limit the number of times you wake up.
Leesa Original Mattress
In addition to the last two mattresses we looked at, this is another mattress that is great for âmotion isolation.â
Additionally, what makes this bed even more appealing is its affordability compared to many other specialty mattresses [2].
âThis mattress is a blessing! I can sleep on my side or back and not get sore. Plus, I don’t feel movement when my partner moves around on it. I wake up feeling ready to go, not like I have been in a fight all night. I have never slept so soundly. I’m very pleased with this mattress, and even a friend has ordered one after sleeping on mine for a test! I have nothing bad to say about this product. I can highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good night’s rest.â Says one customer after purchasing this mattress [5].
