Prince Harry’s Emotional Reaction to King Charles’ Harsh New Decision

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry has reportedly been left ‘in tears.’ This comes after King Charles III made a rather harsh announcement. Seen as a snub move, this latest series of events has led to further speculation regarding a rather obvious strained dynamic within the royal family.

Now 39, Prince Harry and 42-year-old Meghan Markle have had major focus on themselves for a while. Specifically as figures of controversy since stepping back in 2020 as senior members of the royal family,. Relinquishing their official duties.

They were the first to break away from the royal family in this manner, breaking long-standing traditions by relocating to the US. They have however used this as leverage, boosting public service initiatives. This however has created a rift for the family as a whole.

The Long-Standing Rift

It’s no secret that there’s a huge rift between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family. There have been several incidents over the last few years proving this. One of the most obvious signs was when their son, Archie turned five and there was a complete lack of interest from the family, proving a sold disconnect.

This strain doesn’t only reflect between the entire family – Prince William, 41 has also cut ties with Harry, adding to the drama. Once described as ‘incredibly intimate’ by the late Princess Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton, this has broken down and deteriorated completely. A close source described it as “Prince William doesn’t even recognize his younger brother anymore. He wants to believe there’s still hope for peace down the line, but it’s hard.”

A Tense Royal Coronation

At King Charles’ coronation in May of 2023, their tension was on full display for the world to see. The brothers were seen keeping their distance. When Harry recently visited the UK, the tension was further seen. A spokesperson for Prince Harry mentioned that he refused to meet King Charles. He additionally refused King Charles’ royal residence.

King Charles’ Controversial Announcement

Royal commentator Tom Quinn brought up his feedback on the King’s most recent announcement, citing that his timing seems intentional. “The announcement was deliberately made during Harry’s brief visit to the UK to have maximum impact; it shows Harry that he is no longer welcome.” What was the announcement? the appointment of Prince William as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. This role was anticipated to go to Prince Harry.

A Deeply Personal Blow to Prince Harry

Since Prince Harry has extensive military experience, serving the corps in Afghanistan, the King’s decision seems one of a more personal attack than a rational decision. The Duke however had a smaller chapter in the military, with a merit-based recognition. Tom Quinn suggested that this has to have hit Harry hard, stating, “What makes it much worse is that the role is being given to the very man who Harry sees as the cause of so many of his problems – his brother.”

Defending the King’s Decision

Despite severe criticism, some royal commentators have come to King Charles’ aid, supporting his decision. Pandora Forsyth explained that the appointment of Prince William was well thought out. “Prince Harry knew this when he left as a senior member of the working family, that he would have to give up his honorary military titles,” Forsyth stated. “Unfortunately, this is just now the reality for Harry. And it’s brutal, and of course, it’s going to hit home because it’s very personal for him.”

An Escalating Divide

With each new development, the brothers seem to drift further apart. In Prince Hary’s memoir, he aptly described his brother as both his “beloved brother and archnemesis.” This is a seemingly fit sentiment based on recent events. Prince Harry has been left estranged from a place he once called home.

Royal watchers remain vigilant, speculation circulating on what the future holds for the royal family, especially after King Charles’ ‘brash’ decision. For now, it seems that the rift between the royal family is widening and prominent, leaving many questioning the future of a definitive fractured relationship.
