Sarah Healey was a 29-year-old nurse and mother of 3. Sadly, she passed away while giving her father-in-law’s eulogy. However, her cause of death has perplexed medical professionals, assuming she suffered an unexpected heart problem.
Dying During a Eulogy

Sarah Healey, her partner James West, and their three children traveled 200 miles from Flint, Wales, to Slough, England, to attend the funeral and give the eulogy. The funeral was held in honor of the late Roy West, James’ father, who passed away from cancer.
A Partner’s Struggles

Sadly, her partner James now faces numerous struggles, dealing with the heartbreak of losing his father and his partner, coupled with raising three children on his own. It was reported that Sarah fell to the ground while giving her eulogy, and medical reports reflect that the cause of death was heart-related. Either she went into cardiac arrest or suffered from arrhythmia. According to Mayo Clinic, Arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat that can be too fast, too slow, or “inconsistent.”
Family Shares Their Sort of Eulogy

Gladys, Sarah’s heartbroken mom, explained of her daughter: “Sarah was one of those who spoke in tribute to the father of James. It seems that Sarah had suffered an attack of arrhythmia or a cardiac arrest. She had no history of any heart trouble, and we were all devastated by her sudden death.”
Meanwhile, her sister and father also commented on the unexpected loss. “Losing my older and only sister has been the hardest thing I have ever experienced.” Said her younger sister Trisha. “Life will never be the same, but I find planning things with friends, talking, and crying when you need to with no shame has helped.”
“Rather than falling into absolute despair, you can try to do something worthwhile in memory of the loved one. I think it is important advice.” Explained their father, Dave.

Increasing Heart Concerns Amogst Young Pople

The exact cause of Sarah’s heart problems, which led to her death during her heartfelt eulogy, is unknown. It is also unknown if it had anything to do with COVID-19. However, medical experts are seeing an interesting trend in people aged 25-44. According to TODAY, heart-related health concerns decreased in rates before the pandemic. However, after the pandemic, people ages 25-44 saw an increase of 29% in heart attacks and heart-related deaths. The study was conducted by Cedars Sinai hospital in L.A., California in 2022. “Young people are obviously not really supposed to die of heart attack. They’re not really supposed to have heart attacks at all,” explained Dr. Susan Cheng, a cardiologist at Cedars Sinai and co-author of the study.
Alarming Statistics

Adults between 45-64 only saw a 19% increase post-pandemic. Despite the rise of heart-health-related concerns, Cheng believes it to be “more than coincidental, that is for sure.”
“It appears to be able to increase the stickiness of the blood and increase … the likelihood of blood clot formation,” She said, noting the virus impacts the cardiovascular system. “It seems to stir up inflammation in the blood vessels. It seems to also cause in some people an overwhelming stress — whether it’s related directly to the infection or situations around the infection — that can also cause a spike in blood pressure.”
Furthermore, the healthcare professional warns those who’ve had the virus more than once. She emphasizes the importance of keeping up with risk factors like high blood pressure or cholesterol. “I’d love to say we’re … coming out on the other side and we can think of COVID more so like the common cold. Unfortunately, that is not the case. … That is eminently clear from all of the data,” She added. “This is not even just like the flu. … This virus is still very different from any other virus we have seen in our lifetime.”
Unsurprisingly, the unexpected death of Sarah Healey has left her loved ones, baffled, shocked, and devastated. In contrast, her father’s sound advice is a reminder to cherish the people who matter and celebrate them at every opportunity, including after they’ve passed.
