Spots In Your Home You’re Surely Not Cleaning Enough

How clean is your home? There are two kinds of people in this world. The kind who avoid the necessity of cleaning as if they could contract some nasty disease by all the chemicals in the detergents. Then there is the kind who clean the home feverishly as if their life depends on it. The latter of the two will be surprised by the information we have for you today because even they will be shocked by the dirt and grime that builds up, regardless of all of their efforts.

Yes, there are some places that simply cannot be cleaned properly, unless you are aware of them. We hope that you will learn from this list, and therefore give your home the clean that it so deserves!

1. Toothbrush Holders

Can you imagine that? All the bits and bobs that come from your mouth when you are eating which collect in your toothbrush bristles eventually end up in the holder. We recommend soaking the brush holder in hot water and soap and then using a cotton swab or a toothpick to clean it.

2. Your Home Garbage Can

This might seem obvious to some because garbage is called garbage because it’s, well, garbage. There is a lot that goes inside these things, and this means a lot of germs and bacteria will build up even if it is not visible to the naked eye. Make sure that you double bag (with eco-friendly garbage bags of course!) or that you clean up any spillage from fruit juice cartons, rotten fruits or vegetables, and whatever else that oozed after you threw it out.

5. Air Vent in Your Home Bathroom!

This one must be a surprise, how many of you have ever cleaned your air vents? Guaranteed, most of you are lying to yourselves. These things absorb moisture from the air after you have showered or bathed, and this makes any of the dust or grime build up in the vents. This is not only gross, but it can actually cause a blockage of your air vent, preventing it from functionating as it should.

4. Light Switch

Imagine how many times you turn on your light. Now, imagine your whole family, including your little toddler who has worked out how to work the dimmer. There are a lot of grubby hands touching these every day, so make sure you clean them regularly with a disinfectant detergent.

5. Home Draw for Utensils

If you thought your cutlery will remain clean once you put it into the draw, think again! There is a lot of dirt, and bits of food that fall inside these drawers every time you open them. Make sure you clean this regularly, or you will be slowly poisoning yourself by eating with your dirty utensils.

6. TV Remote

This is a similar concept to the light switches, but possibly worse. All those dirty greasy fingers, still covered in bits of food touching the remote- it builds up! What is worse, is that you might be snacking while using the remote, so your fingers pick up the dirt without you realizing it, and you put it into your mouth with your next handful of chips – gross!

The best way to clean these is to use a cotton swab to get in-between the buttons so that you give it a good clean. Use a little rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth, because you don’t want to mess up the electronics of the remote. Don’t forget to remove the batteries before cleaning.

7.Ceiling Fan

How could dirt gather there, you might ask. Well, seeing as a ceiling fan spins around merrily keeping the air flowing, if there is any dust or grime on the wings of the fan, that too will be spread around the room as the fan spins.

8. Your Home Internet Router

The dust build-up on these things is insane. Think about it, when last did you look at your router? Make sure you do regular dusting on these gizmos because the dust can cause malfunctioning which is a threat to your internet’s capabilities. Once every few days should be fine. You can use a can of compressed air and or a microfiber cloth.

9.Your Pillow

This is an important one. Did you know that you can simply throw your pillow into the washing machine? That is right! This should also be done regularly because all the dirt on our faces is absorbed by the cotton in the pillowcase, and then by the actual pillow. Wash your pillowcase once every few days at least. As for the pillow inside, if you notice any dark spots have built up, fill a spray bottle with one part bleach and one part water. Spray the dark spots and leave them out in the sun. The bacteria will die, and your pillow will look new again!

10. Your cell and Home Phone

Make sure you are keeping your hands clean before you handle your phone, or that you clean its screen before you put it against your face for a phone call. Imagine eating food after dealing with your phone that has had bacteria building up all day!
