Parenting styles and ideas are all so different, the way you bring your child up, the rules you have in your home, will be so different from that of your friend, or your neighbor, or even your sister’s parenting style. While we all have different opinions on what the right or best way of doing things is, sometimes, certain parenting ideas spark a whole lot of controversy. This mom is an example of exactly that!
This mom has taken the internet by storm and seems to have created quite the online debate, all because she charges her seven-year-old rent. Yup! You read that right!
Mom Shares her Unique Parenting Style
“I have a seven-year-old. He has a daily task list that he must complete on a daily basis. Should he complete everything on his task list he gets a dollar per day.
At the end of the month, he realizes he has bills to pay. He pays those bills to me. and he has rent, he has electricity for his room and he also has internet for his iPad. Now he understands that throughout the month he has two buckets. He has his fun money and his bill money.“craftedandcozy

Seven Year Old Pays Rent
We know what you are thinking. But, hear craftedandcozy out! She says that the rent her son pays goes right back into a savings account for him! We think that is pretty neat, to be honest! Wondering what he pays for rent and all the rest? Rent is $5 a month, electricity is $2 and the WiFi for the iPad is $2. Seems pretty fair?
The way we see it is that teaching young children about money, how to handle it correctly and how to save is extremely important!
Setting an example is another amazing way you can help your kids. Of course, this should make a lot of sense to you! But, did you know, The University of Cambridge conducted a study which found that children have already formed their money habits by the young age of seven! That is even more reason to set an excellent example for your kids!
So, what did you think of user craftedandcozy’s out-of-the-box style of parenting and money management? Do you think she is taking it too far by forcing her child to do things they should not need to at that age? Or do you think she might just be onto something brilliant? Here is what other moms thought of the whole thing, Both the good and the bad!
Despite many disagreeing with her, this mom still has a huge amount of people who think her idea is brilliant
