Ladies, If You’ve Been Taught To Hold Your Keys Like This For Self Defense, You’re Doing It Wrong

Ladies, be honest for a second. Have you held keys for self-defense when walking late at night OR when you just feel unsafe? Because I have.

Fortunately, we can use a lot of different self-defense tactics to give us a fighting chance if the unspeakable happens.

For instance, many girls are now able to take self-defense classes in school, which allows them to practice getting out of physical situations. And of course, there is a method we all know and practice pretty much every day – keys for self-defense.

A try and true tactic: keys for self defense

Firstly, if you aren’t aware of this tactic, I recommend you stick around. This can definitely help you feel safer when you are out in public alone.

TikTok user @Faesfx, taught women everywhere the right way to hold keys for self-defense through a TikTok on her account.

Apparently, we’re holding keys for self defense wrong.

I’ve seen a lot of women say they’re carrying their keys like this to feel safe,” @faesfx shares. “If I punch, that key is going back into me and is going to hurt me,” [1].

Do this instead

To use keys for self defense, grip your longest key with your fist. Of course, if you don’t have a long key, you can go to a nearby store and purchase one.

Instead, take your longest key, hold it like this,” @faesfx demonstrated. “That key isn’t going anywhere,” [1].

In the same video, @Faesfx does a demonstration with her friend. It shows her gripping her key with your fist leaves you with more room to defend yourself.
