Your wedding day is supposed to be a magical event. One filled with love and support from those who you care most about. However, not all weddings go off without a hitch. What would you do if someone planned an elaborate wedding prank on your special day? Well, that’s exactly what happened when one groom ended up removing half of the wedding guests. He wasn’t quite sure if he did the right thing or not. We’ll let you decide after reading his story.
The Family
On Reddit, under the AITA subreddit, one 33-year-old male shared his story with the public to find one thing out: was he wrong for what he did? To start, he shares that the majority of his side of the family consists of women. Aunts, sisters, cousins, and they all like to joke and tease the other women in the family.
They’ve formed a unit (which I admit is kind of toxic) and they’d tease and roast every new woman that enters the family by marriage by setting up “tests” to see if they deserve to be part of the family. Or roast their looks and styles to the point of breaking confidence and self esteem down.

According to the OP, after the newest family member passes the test they even join in on the teasing. But no one expected a wedding prank of this level.
When I first introduced my then girlfriend now wife. I made it clear that I didn’t want any of the women in the unit to come at her or harass her not even with a single word. They went behind my back and roasted her looks and job and I discovered they’ve been doing it on Facebook.

After this was brought to his attention, he made them all apologize to his fiance, one by one.
I had them apologize one by one after they gave the “we’re just testing the water to see if she’s capable to be part of the family” excuse”.

Most of them didn’t want to apologize. However, they quickly changed their tune when he threatened to uninvite every single one of them to the wedding. They did all apologize. However, he had no idea any of them would be willing to pull off such an elaborate wedding prank in order to prove their point.
A Wedding Prank and the Consequences
While talking to his brother, OP learned of a wedding prank that sent him over the edge. The rumor was that all of the women would be wearing white on the wedding day. According to the brother, this was to be the ‘ultimate test’ to see if the fiance belonged in the family.
My brother warned me so I announced that if anyone of them showed up in white I’d have them kicked out including mom. They said this wasn’t true and they’d never do such thing.

Sadly, the unit of women did just what the brother warned OP about. Just as they arrived, OP kicked them out one by one.
They tried giving excuses by either making scenes or getting the men involved. The senior women of the unit who are Mom and aunts also showed up in white but refused to leave.

OP said his mom was irate and demanded that he move aside to let her attend the wedding, but he refused to budge. Eventually, his mom left, and the men in the wedding audience were stunned. Apart from OP’s father, who fully supported his choice of consequence to this wedding prank.
I felt absolutely awful because my wedding was being interrupted by them making scenes. My wife was hurt beyond measure but the women in the family were pissed.

Following the event, OP’s cousin posted hurtful remarks on Facebook about him and his newlywed wife.
My cousin blasted me on social media later saying I excluded all the women from the wedding because my wife was so insecure she couldn’t handle another woman’s presence at her wedding.

Now, many of those who have read this story on Reddit agree with OP. However, the mother of OP said that he ruined his own wedding and went too far.
She said I had to bring my wife and apologize. I haven’t seen the lot of them in 2 weeks and they’ve excluded me from everything.
