Family to donate organs of 4-year-old on life support after falling in swimming pool

Firstly, losing a child is probably the hardest thing to endure as a parent. There are various ways one can honor the deceased in death. And, one such way is donating their organs to those in need.

According to statistics, every 9 minutes, a new person is added to the transplant waiting list. While 17 people die each day waiting for organ transplants. So, currently, there are 105,923 people, men, women, and children who are on the national waiting list for organ transplants. So, each donor can save up to 8 lives and can enhance the lives of over 75 people. On a more positive note, in 2021 over 40 000 transplants were performed! Drastically changing the lives of so many men, women, and children.

Crosby Pruitt, a 4-year-old kid was found unconscious by the Lubbock County Sheriff after falling into a swimming pool. He was immediately taken to the Covenant Medical Center by EMS where he was placed on life support. The parents of the boy have asked family, friends, and members of the community to dress up like superheroes to wish their child goodbye.

So, members of the boy’s family and friends have taken to social media platforms to try and gather people from across the South Plains. All to gather and show support for the boy and his family.

Crosby’s mother made a statement on social media after having to make the terribly hard decision to take the boy off life support.

Today we know that our precious boy has already left this earth. He is robot dancing his ways through the gates of heaven. We’ve chosen to support the life his body has left. We will try and salvage as many organs as we can and donate them. My superhero is really going to be one in giving life to many in hopes we can save another family/sibling from suffering the way our kiddos are. This could take a few days to get everything moving. We ask for prayers as well as we navigate this road as a family.

Please pray for peace and understanding for our kids. I’m not sure they quite grasp the full extent of what this all means yet. But, they will and Josh and I will need prayers to help guide them all through this. Our superhero has always known who and what he is, our miracle baby. One that both he and I fought so hard to bring him into this world and our little boy fought so hard to stay with us but in the end, his injuries sustained from lack of oxygen took our baby from us. Your mommy, daddy, sisters, brother, and family love you and will miss every single thing about you.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out via calls, texts, and messages, and just being in the hospital just awaiting any task we may need. We have felt your prayers and love from all over this world and to say it is appreciated is an understatement. We love you all and so does Crosby💪. Crosby Pruitt’s mother, Christina Pruitt”

Crosby’s parents also set up a memorial account at Plains Capital Bank to help with the funeral expenses and have set it up in a way that one can stop at any location to make a donation.

The family has also asked any and all superheroes to attend Crosby’s send-off. The memorial will be held at Maxes Park 4007 30th Street, on Friday afternoon at 2 pm. Attendees are asked to take a lap in Crosby’s honor.

The time has come for the superhero powers to combine and to honor Super Crosby’s heroic final mission. He passes a little bit of himself to others and saves lives through organ donation!

Grab your superhero gear and join others for the Capes for Crosby Superhero Parade. We will assemble at Maxey Park at 2 PM and make a lap in honor of Super Crosby. There will be a spot for all superheroes to autograph a memento that will be given to the Pruitt Family at a later time.

Capes for Crosby Superhero Parade is to truly honor the heroic act of organ donation. Life Gift has been a tremendous support during this time and is an amazing resource for others that are interested in becoming a superhero like Crosby. For more information visit: wwwllifegift.org or donatelifetexas.org.

The Pruitt Family will not be in attendance for this event as they continue to take the time to privately honor their superhero. But they are in full support of the parade. A keepsake video from the event will be put together. So they may witness the event at a time they choose. We kindly ask everyone to continue to respect the privacy of the family. But, encourage you all to continue to cover them with your prayers of peace and comfort.

Hope to see you all tomorrow at 2 PM at Maxey Park. Let’s make it one of epic proportions! 🦸🏻‍♂️”

The family extended a very special thanks to www.lifegift.org for the support they were given during the process as their goal is to keep the memory of their son alive through the organ donations.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers during the past few days. While the loss of our beloved Crosby is great, our faith in God remains strong. Crosby was a superhero from the day he joined our family. In death, his legacy of love and life will continue through the organs shared with other families in need.

A superhero is one who has abilities like no other; one who helps the world become a better place. Our Crosby, with God’s hand, is a true superhero. Giving to others so they may love their family, laugh with their siblings, and embrace the joy they share.

As a family, we will take the time to honor our son and brother. We pray for peace and ask for privacy in the days ahead as we remember Crosby“. Said Covenant Health in response to Crosby’s organ donation.

A true heroic act

Organ donation is a true act of bravery. It is an act of kindness. We commend the parents and family members of Crosby for choosing to donate their beloved child’s organs which will no doubt save another child’s life.
