‘Buttered Saltine Crackers’ Are The Hot New Viral Snack Trend That’s Taking Over the Internet

Have you ever tried Buttered Saltine Crackers? Neither did I until a couple of weeks ago but let’s just say it completely blew my mind.  In all seriousness, though, have you ever them? I know it seems a little bit unusual. Usually, you put different things on your crackers like peanut butter, jam, and even cheese— but butter? Who would have thought everyone’s new favorite snack would be some as simple as buttered saltine crackers.

Buttered Saltine Crackers May Have Been Your Grandparents Favorite Snack

Okay so, maybe not everyone is as clueless as I am. In fact, if you ask your grandparents about buttered saltine crackers, they will likely know what you’re talking about. Apparently, this two-ingredient snack is a thing of the past and is still widely consumed. Who would have known?

Here are a couple of recipes you can try. The First is pretty straight forward with butter being the key ingredient, while the other is a little more involved, but very flavourful!

Recipe 1: Classic Buttered Saltine Cracker

Ingredients:

Butter. Saltines. That is all!

How to make it:

We could make this complicated, but we won’t. Grab your favorite brand of butter (make sure it’s nice and soft), and spread it on your cracker. Delicious!

Recipe 2: Perfectly Bake Buttered Saltine Crackers

This recipe from The Pioneer Woman has a few more steps than the last one, but I promise it is equally as good.

Ingredients:

  • Saltine Crackers

  • Seasoning of your choice

How to make them

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit

Step 2:  Add butter to a saucepan and heat on medium-high until the butter is melted.

Step 3: Mix in the seasoning of your choice. Many people opt for more savory seasonings such as Italian seasoning or some type of salt blend.

Step 4: Grab as many saltine crackers as you’d like for a snack and pop them into the butter mix. Once the first side is covered in butter, flip the crackers over and then remove them from the pan.

Pro tip: only put as many crackers in the pan as you can manage. Remember, you just want the crackers to be covered in the butter mix, don’t cook them just yet.

Step 5: Once your oven is preheated and the crackers are soaked in butter, place the crackers on a rack on top of a baking sheet.

Step 6: Place the crackers into the oven and bake for around 20 minutes.

Pro tip: To make sure your crackers don’t burn, start to keep an eye on them after they’ve been in the oven for around 15 minutes

Step 7: voila! Oven baked buttered saltine crackers

So there you have it! Two different ways you can enjoy this delicious treat.
