Mom delivered twin girls with matching snow-white hair, and their unusual beauty comes out years later

Jorge Gomez and his wife were surprised to find out they were expecting twins. On the delivery day, the twins shocked their new parents with their heads of snow-white hair. Neither expected this to occur seeing as they are both brunettes. As the twins grew, so did the appreciation for their beauty.

They never Expected Twins

The Gomezs are a married couple living in Argentina. They had a son together, and then in 2018, they were very excited to welcome their second child into the world. Neither of them expected the one child to be two, but when they heard the news that Mrs. Gomez was carrying twins they were beyond thrilled.

Many mothers who have brought two’s into this world have struggled during pregnancy, but luckily Mrs. Gomez reported that her pregnancy was mostly normal, and she had minimal struggles. The couple went about preparing for the new arrivals, just like any parent would do. Little did they know what they would feel on the day of their birth.

The Twins are a Rarity

As Mrs. Gomez’s belly grew, she had no worries, only excitement. 36 weeks before their due date, the twins made a very early arrival. This was very worrisome for the parents as babies this premature have little chance of survival.

The two were born in a hospital in Tucumán Province of Argentina. They were named Virginia and Catalina, and weighed 5.5 and 5.95 lbs respectively. To top it all off, they were both born with stunning white hair.

Twins Born with Albinism

The local newspaper LV12 interviewed the new parents because of how rare the condition is. Albinism is relatively rare, and to have twins born with the condition is even more so.

When they gave us the news that we would have two babies, it gave us a lot of happiness and when they were born and we saw that they were albinos, that happiness did not change at all,” Jorge said.

What is Albinism?

Albinism is a condition where the body does not have the ability to produce melanin, a substance in your body that produces hair, eye, and skin pigmentation. This causes hair to grow pure white, and the skin will have no color, but rather a pink tinge. In the US 1 in 18-20,000 children are born with albinism every year, but these twins, Catalina and Valentino, are the very first set of albino twins born in Argentina.

There are various types of albinism based on how they are inherited and the type of gene that is affected. The lack of pigment means that their skin is more prone to burning in the sun’s UV rays, so extra sun protection is mandatory if your child is albino. Not only that, but people with albinism tend to have issues with their eyesight, and some are even classified as blind.

There may be some health concerns, but at least it is nothing that could prevent them from functioning in society.

Catalina and Valentino are doing well!

As the girls turned three years old in 2021, they celebrated by adorning themselves in some brightly colored dresses and had a little modeling shoot. Take a look at these two beautiful girls!
