Having a family is at the top of many people’s lists of goals they want to accomplish. Along with this list, there is love. Not just any love, but that deep and passionate love that comes out of nowhere and wraps itself around you in a way that you can not resist. This is what happened to Lauren Cohen, who is from Paramus in New Jersey. She found love in an unexpected place that resulted in her giving birth to twins at 59 years old. Much to her older daughter’s dismay.
New Found Love
Lauren was married to another man before she rediscovered what love meant for her. She had started attending a dance class, and that was there everything changed for her. The instructor of the class was a man named Frank Garcia, and Lauren always admired his dancing. One day, she asked him to dance, and the two fell madly in love. She ended up divorcing her husband to marry Frank in July 2002, even though he was 20 years younger than her.
“I never thought he could be interested in a woman so much older. He was a great dancer so I asked him to dance one night and he said yes,” said Lauren.
Lauren understood the repercussions that Frank might have to face later on when she needed caring from him. We inevitably become frail at some point, but Lauren was determined to do everything within her power so that Frank had a somewhat “normal” marriage. She did not want him to be caring for her in bedrest, or that he might feel he was too young to look for love again. This shows the deep love that she has for her younger husband because empathy I one of the best reflections of love.
Her selflessness was inspiring, but it did not end there. She had said that she wanted her husband to have the full experience of marriage, which included the joys of becoming a parent. In an interview with the Record, she said the following. “I just thought it would be unfair to Frank for him to marry me and never have the opportunity to have a child. He never asked me to have a child, but I knew it would make him happy.”

Young children at an Old Age
It is not unheard of for people to find love in people much older than them, but it is unusual. Especially so when one of them is at a typical retiring age, and they are thinking of having more children. They considered using IVF and artificial insemination so that conception what optimal. At Lauren’s age, her embryos will not be in their best condition so some assistance was needed. The procedures were successful, and she managed to fall pregnant not once, but twice!
Lauren ran a law firm, so she was used to making pretty big decisions. But, regardless of her actions, her eldest daughter, Renee 32 years old, was not impressed when she gave birth to a set of twins, a boy named Gregory, and a girl named Giselle, a few months before her 60th birthday. What’s even more surprising is that she also gave birth one year before the twins to a little girl, called Raque. This means that Lauren is a mother of three young children at the age of 65 years old.
Frank Garcia, now 45 years old said in an interview with the New York Post. “It was one of my dreams to have baby twins. It’s like a miracle.” Lauren’s eldest daughter is now 32 years old and she is not exactly impressed with her mother’s decisions. She and her mother have lost contact since the babies were born, and Lauren expressed her sadness over the situation.
A Change in Lifestyle Was in Order
There is no denying the fact that these three young children are going to lose their mother at some point in their early lives because she is much older than the average mom. This has inspired Lauren to make some drastic lifestyle changes to improve her health so that she can watch them grow up as long as she can. These days that could actually be a surprisingly long time. Regardless, Lauren assured reporters of her health.
“I don’t feel like a record holder. Except for arthritis, I’m in excellent shape.” Said Lauren. Lauren took up an active life of Pilates and yoga, she also takes a lot of supplements to ensure she is in optimal health. In total, she takes about 100 pills each week, which is an awful lot to swallow. “I take 98 pills a week, a mix of medicine and dietary supplements. I hope they give me long enough.” Lauren admitted.
